Bug with 19x19 Fixed

Postby paz » Wed Jan 07, 2009 2:59 pm

Hi All,

There was an issue where 19x19 games weren't saving properly... and often crashing on restart.

I've found the problem and fixed it. I am also going to add some extra checks so if you try to restart a corrupted game it will prompt you first. This way in the increasingly rare event that a game gets munged, it won't require you to reinstall the game.

Thanks to everyone who sent feedback and helped me figure this out.

-PZ

ps: i am still going to work on adding features but this release is going to be simple bug fixes. I'll shoot for a 'feature' update in early february.

The update is submitted. Look for version 1.11 in the store in the next few days.

Also, let me explain some of the crashing issues and what I've done to hopefully prevent problems in the future. All the games are stored in SGF format and its possible if there is an error in the game, the program would crash while trying to load it. There shouldn't be error in the games unless there is a bug in the client, which I am dutifully trying to minimize :) So once an error is introduced into a game file, if iGo tries to start up with that game it will just crash and then you could never start iGo again. Reinstalling eliminated the erroneous game and therefore let you play again.

What I've done now, just in case more esoteric bugs start to surface, is provide a check on startup. If the game did not previously exit properly it will give you the option to either try loading the last game again or you can just start/load another game. This should prevent people from having to reinstall the application in the event that it does crash.

Thanks to everyone for being patient and for providing good feedback. I realize the first version had a lot of issues and I think most of them are taken care of with this release. Now I can start adding some of the features people have been asking about :)

Much love,
PZ

Presumably I am experiencing the same problem with latest release. On a 19x19 board I try to resume the last game and find it several moves behind where I left off.

Sorry, I should have posted an update. There was some issue with Version 1.11 and it hasn't appeared in the store yet. The bug is fixed but there was some issue with the binary. I will aim to have it resolved this week.

Apologies for the delay,
Phil

I tried 9x9 board, but no play. no response at all.
Stone is not placing where I want, it placed vicinity around itself.
I have OS 3.0 in 3GS. tnks.

Hi, have you tried turning your iPhone off and on again ?

Stone is not placing where I want, it placed vicinity around itself.

Did you check the options ? There is one that makes the stone float above your finger so that you see exactly where you're droping it. You can of course deactivate it.
